DRAPEAU ANGLAIS

A note from the director

The Saint Yves Sacré Cœur La Salle school in Saint Brieuc is a large private school under a contract of the association with the State. We provide care and education to students coming from all social, educational, cultural, geographical, and religious backgrounds.

The school offers a wide range of sections to nearly 1,300 pupils and students:   secondary school, general, technical and also vocational high school. The school has also a mixed boarding school with 350 beds.

It is also a place for exchanges and encounters open to its territory and to the world.

Out of the conviction that each young person is a unique individual, we attach great importance to establishing relationships based on dialogue, trust, and mutual respect.

The opening up to the international scene is one of the strong points of our school project. In recent years, our school has organised numerous school exchanges, at all levels, with different European countries. We have also established partnerships with schools and companies. More and more students reach an internship abroad. We also welcome foreign students to our courses or to our partner companies.

Our school is located near to the city centre of Saint Brieuc, about 3 kilometres from the railway station / TGV, 3 hours from Paris and 1 hour by car from the international airport in Rennes / 2 hours from Nantes Atlantique. It is also available by several bus lines.

The school itself consists of a secondary school (200 pupils aged 12 to 15) and a general, technological and vocational high school (1100 students aged 15 to 18). Vocational courses include commerce, fashion design, car mechanics, woodworking, digital technology… We are open to students with special needs.

Our school also offers a sports study programme (including swimming, roller skating, soccer, BMX …).  There is also a campus of higher education (60 students) and 160 teachers.

The St Yves Sacré Coeur La Salle school complex is a Catholic Lasallian establishment that is teaching by methods according to principles of John Baptist de La Salle and belongs to the network of international Lasallian schools. The Lasallian Education Project is the foundation of an educational contract that guides and commits facility staff, families, and students to a common goal: the global development of the young person in his or her intellectual, physical, affective, social, moral and spiritual dimensions.

A CITY WITH MANY FACETS

BETWEEN LAND AND SEA

In the agglomeration of 151,517 inhabitants, there is Saint-Brieuc (44,999 inhabitants) the capital of the Côtes d'Armor.

Saint-Brieuc, city founded around the year 485 by a Welsh monk, is situated between land and sea, and today combines the charm of a historic city with modern and dynamic town. Saint-Brieuc is home to numerous companies and services, as well as several cultural institutions such as a national theatre, a sports centre, an aquatic centre "Aquabaie", a Museum of Art and History, a cyber-centre "Mediacap", an art school, a music and dance centre, several theatres, and a modern music scene...

Its economy is rich, oriented towards international activity:

- A research centre focused on animal production and animal health, food microbiology and hygiene

- A centre for the study of car industry and commerce

- A study centre on building and public works techniques and materials:

- A “city of taste” and a centre for sciences and trades.

At the same time, Saint-Brieuc offers various educational facilities (universities and higher education, adult education):

More than 6000 students live in Saint-Brieuc.

Sports and cultural activities:

Saint-Brieuc and its surroundings offer many opportunities to sports activities but also many cultural events and venues: cinemas, theatres, concert stages, youth and outdoor activity centres (MJC - Maison des Jeunes et de la Culture, and many other associations), exhibition halls, museums, pubs with a typical atmosphere, festivals... and many other possibilities to do sport- thanks to a lot of clubs, infrastructures and the environment that allows inhabitants access to water sports but also to paragliding, hiking, mountain biking, etc. ..

From the cultural point of view, you will find in Saint-Brieuc all that makes up the charm of Brittany:

its gastronomy, traditional dances, and music and finally regional and local languages.

The architecture and heritage are also marked by the history of this territory.
